of academic performance, Learning Away's recent research found that school trips resulted in higher academic achievement, with 61 per
cent of students achieving higher than their predicted grade following a school trip based on the subject area.
There's a whole new range
of experiences for
students to take inspiration from, with three quarters (75 per
cent) believing that VR can support blended learning, and embedding into existing practices will improve the classroom.
Of all teachers surveyed, over a third (36 per
cent) admit that they have struggled to make things in the world real and relatable when their
students have not
experienced them previously, and 42 per
cent say they often don't have the time to do so.
Key findings from the evaluation show that 70 per
cent of Key Stage 2
students felt they knew their teachers better and 71 per
cent felt they got on better with their peers as a result
of their residential
experiences.
Another question found more than half, 55 per
cent, had seen a large increase in the number
of students experiencing anxiety or stress and 38 per
cent has seen a large increase in
students having a low mood or depression.

students had
experienced certain issues or feelings.

cent of teachers had
experienced physical violence from
students and 88 per
cent were aware
of other teachers
experiencing violence.

students had generally failed maths at Year 10, and in many cases that was their only
experience; they weren't very enthusiastic; there were some attendance [and] behavioural issues.
