The cleaner
center stack looks better and is intuitive to work through.
The Display Audio LCD in
the center stack looks more Fit than CR - V or Civic but either way the buttons are small.
While we like the metal strip that separates the upper and lower parts of the dashboard, the black plastic covering
the center stack looks dated.
While
the center stack looks like it's populated with quite a few physical controls, they're arranged well enough that drivers will learn them quickly.

But new images provide the first up - close
look at
stacked layers of sediment exposed near the base of Mount Sharp, the roughly 5 - kilometer - high outcrop at the
center of the crater.
The

looks like a mini armoire with two small drawers faced in gorgeous wood.
Fabric - covered magnesium panels make for a beautifully curved roofline with the unmistakable
look of a soft top; the

Interior shots of the prototype appear to have similarities to the Cherokee with the same button and knob layout in the lower
center stack and what
looks like an 8.4 - inch touchscreen for the UConnect infotainment system.

looks to have sculpted a wrap - around dashboard with a

looking flashes of Cadillac's trademark eucalyptus wood gracing the console,

A
look inside reveals few changes to the dual - cowl dashboard, although a turbo boost gauge sits atop the
center stack.
The F12's dashboard largely resembles that of the FF, but there is one significant difference: It no longer packs a large, clunky -
looking navigation unit into the
center stack.
The gearshift now sits in the
center stack and doesn't
look like an afterthought; to my eyes, it's the best use of this gearshift so far.
The horizontally arranged headlights lead into the large
center grille, helping to accentuate the car's width, whereas the concept version's vertically
stacked arrangement made it
look substantially taller and more truck - like.
The
center stack houses Ford's MyFord Touch full - color touch screen, which is very pretty to
look at but, owing mostly to its tiny touch points, not so fun to use.
The
center stack integrates neatly into a new two - tone décor; while the old Passat
looked somewhat naked with simple faux - wood inserts on the dashboard, this Passat has an upper layer of aluminum -
looking plastic bezels that add a bit more pop.
It
looks far more expensive than most of its classmates, both inside and out, with a well - designed, clean
center stack.
The good
looks extend into the G8 «s cabin, with its European - style instrument cluster and
center stack.
Inexpensive, drab
looking plastics cover many surfaces, most notably the
center stack, and easily identify the Discovery Sport as Land Rover's budget model.
Its instrument cluster has real instruments (with only one small LCD screen that doesn't do a whole lot), its
center stack uses actual buttons, and its navigation graphics
look like they're from the aftermarket.
The
look is clean and modern, with gauges that blend traditional dials with digital screens and an uncluttered
center stack without too many buttons.
And from its Saturn -
looking face, to its cluttered
center stack, to its much less VTEC - y engine response, to its dumbed - down steering feel, this new Acura just doesn't have the neat character of the original TSX.
I do, however, like the bright blue highlights in the Edge's seats and the pinstriped, aluminum -
look trim that frames its
center stack.
Said one particularly disgruntled driver: «The hodgepodge of materials and textures is like a visual representation of ADD: wood that
looks fake even if it might be real, cheap plastic that covers the dash with its pseudo-gun-grips cross-hatching, leather - textured plastic, and, to me the most objectionable, the giant chunks of black plastic that make up the
center stack, especially where the CDs are loaded.»
Aside from those changes, however, the 2 Series» interior should
look familiar to any BMW fan — the HVAC and audio controls and
center stack setup
look almost completely unchanged from the larger 3 and 4 Series models.
Kia used more soft - touch materials in the 2017 Sportage than its predecessor, and the dash and
center stack follow the stylish (if not particularly daring) triangles - and - polygons
look of other new Kia models like the Optima.
For the most part, the control buttons on the
center stack are well laid out and labeled, and they don't
look too cheap to me.
The sweeping dash and waterfall
center stack complement each other well and lend an upscale
look to the cabin, while the buttery - soft leather got me to thinking that maybe Hyundai really could pull off its own luxury brand.
The easy - to - see 7 - inch full - color display mounted high in the
center stack easily operates many of the car's functions, but
looks a little dated.
My first
look at the
center stack was laughable at best.
The inside is laid out well enough, with the
center stack and console
looking slightly futuristic, but the materials and textures aren't so luxurious as they say for this segment.
This 12.3 - inch touchscreen is placed in the
center stack and it
looks gorgeous.
This year the Camry is all about the sporty
look and showcases it by adding sport touches such as an available dual exhaust system with chrome - dipped tailpipes, sport seating, and a highly intuitive
center stack that makes navigation access easy.
Although not as original as the first - gen car, which had the unique V - shaped
center stack and dashboard, the new Veloster gets credit for
looking modern.
Unfortunately, the
center stack's grey accents
look too similar to the cheaper Toyota models.
On base models, the
center stack lacks a clean
look because of the multitude of buttons.
It's also very BMW - like: pushbutton start, a freestanding 8.8 - inch LCD display atop the
center stack, the eight programmable buttons that tune your favorite stations or call home, the beer tap -
looking shifter, the Eco-Normal-Sport rocker switch, and of course iDrive.
We are
looking forward for the next generation to bring a 6 or 7 speed gearbox and replace the
center stack that
looks a little too Toyota - ish for our taste, but aside of that we loved the RX.
