So with one sub, Wenger could have solved the right back and
central defence problems.

Even with all of our injury
problems in every area of the pitch but especially in
defence and
central midfield, Arsenal are finding a way to dominate games and more importantly, to win them.
Apart from the fact that we no longer have a competent Manager i, m afraid the real
problem on the playing side stems from a real lack of quality, particularly at centre back and in defensive midfield.There is absolutely no point in trying to replace Sanchez when our
central defence is useless.
The
problem was being thrust into action together and that is why I think it is clear that Wenger needs to rotate his
central defence more often.
The main
problem for me is our tactics;
central midfielders occupying wing positions with wingers on the bench, no runners ever in behind the opposition
defence, passing football with no end product, nobody driving forward at pace with the ball, instead opting for a sideways or backwards pass and an overall lack of counter attacking, penetrating play.
Chelsea sold Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid in the summer, and with Alex recovering slowly from his knee
problem, there could be more games yet with Paulo Ferreira in
central defence alongside Branislav Ivanovic.
Because of all the injury
problems which have left the boss with little option in
central midfield or the back four, Wenger has at least got two first choice full backs in Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy, with Calum Chambers set yto partner Mertesacker in the centre of our
defence.
Merson made it perfectly clear where he thinks our biggest
problem lies, with the Arsenal
defence and more particularly with the Spanish left back Nacho Monreal who has recently gone from full back to the left sided one in a back three and even more recently as the
central defender in that back line.
