In the first room of Marian Goodman's new
gallery, adjacent pairs of vast grey painted - glass panels are retwinned
on opposite walls, so that the space contracts a little around a huge
central sculpture, 7 Panes of Glass (House of Cards)(2013), that drolly invokes both Richard Serra's cliffs of leaning steel and Caspar David Friedrich's The Sea of Ice (1824).
It was at the epicenter of that scene, the Cedar Tavern, that Wilson was approached in 1952 to be a co-founder of the Hansa
Gallery, an artists» cooperative that was first
on East 12th Street and later moved to
Central Park South.
The exhibit will be divided into three parts: the museum's Rubin
Gallery will be organized into a layout that mimics Manhattan with scale models of projects like Steven Holl's Parallax Towers (alluded to above) and an alternate design for
Central Park inspired by the gardens of Versailles; the museum's long - standing Panorama of the City of New York display will get 70 new additions to show viewers what the city would have looked like if all of the exhibit's projects had been completed; and a third display will focus
on projects that were specifically intended for Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
On May 12 of 2018 Ingleby will celebrate its 20th birthday by opening a new
gallery in a historic building in
central Edinburgh.
