In the oval Bedroom Painting # 21, you might think they are set against
abstract elements, but that radical black
centre is a curtain, overlapping a green blind, allowing a slither
of landscape; and we see yellow flowers, a section
of purple wall and a light switch.
The town rapidly became a
centre for
abstract avant - garde
landscape painting, and attracted a new generation
of creative practitioners like Terry Frost, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton, Peter Lanyon, John Wells and Bryan Wynter, who had a significant influence on the evolution
of fine art painting in the UK during the second half
of the 20th century.
