Since its inception in 2008, the
centre has addressed the antinomies
of artistic production and structural development in Africa, while resisting institutionalised cultural schemes that often dampen the political convictions
of artistic practice.
Centre for Contemporary Art CCA fosters a wide range
of artistic, curatorial, and critical practices through five collaborative and process - driven streams: research and
production, exhibition - making, public programmes, publishing, and residencies.
Long overlooked as a
centre for
artistic production, London was seen as not having any sort
of artistic predilection, and if any, much lower than that
of heart
of artistic innovation, Paris.
