For more than a
century, public
education has worked under a single salary schedule that compensates teachers for college credits,
education degrees, and years of
experience, but not for their effectiveness in the classroom.
Our goal is to disseminate educational
experiences (formal, non-formal and informal) from all over the world, creating new «glocals» networks to reflect about the value and significance of
education in the XXI
century globalized age.
For most of the
century just past, and into the current one, school districts have paid their teachers according to a «single salary schedule,» a pay scheme that bases an individual teacher's salary on two factors: years of
experience (steps) and number of
education credits and degrees (lanes).
As John Dewey reminded us a
century ago, «The belief that all genuine
education comes about through
experience does not mean that all
experiences are genuinely or equally educative.»
(Theme of
education) The aim is for students to gain
experience in handling extracts from 19th
century literature but also draw comparisons to modern non fiction texts.
But as we've learned from roughly a quarter -
century of
experience with state - level school choice programs and federal higher
education policy, any connection to the federal government can have unintended consequences for choice, including incentivizing government control of the schools to which public money flows.
The aim is to create educational
experiences that ensure that students graduate with the 21st
Century knowledge and skills to successfully engage in further
education and careers.
