certainly flawed character.

Most of the
characters, and
certainly the dramatic ones, carry a tragic
flaw.
Endearing, honest and
flawed characters is where Holofcener's min interest lies — and this manage a quatre comedy
certainly abides by those rules.
Not that I have anything against DDL or Charlize's magnificent performances... I just have a soft - spot for human drama that doesn't feel this need to go all out on the «transforming into the
character» stuff... but maybe that's more a
flaw with me (it's
certainly not a
flaw with those performances!).
It's
certainly not the perfect option for that, having been subject to all sorts of criticism from its treatment of race relations to its arguable redemption arc for arguably its most despicable
character to its stereotypical look at small town America (a movie made by an Irish director about the
flaws of America seems like it could get an extra boost from a voting body like the HFPA).
The entire film is narrated by Kuzco (often in an interruptive but
certainly not unwelcome manner), who acknowledges convention, underscores his
character flaws, and makes for an amusing, cynical viewing companion.
