conducting thorough case investigations have been developed, 6 these guidelines have not been uniformly adopted across the more than 2000 US medical examiner and coroner jurisdictions.7 Information from emergency responders, scene investigators, and caregiver interviews can provide additional evidence to assist death
certifiers (ie, medical examiners and coroners) in accurately determining the cause of death.
