The Journal of Nutrition found that subjects who consumed 10g of MCTs versus 10g of long -
chain fats experienced more pure fat loss after 12 weeks.
In another study, recreational cyclists who consumed foods containing 6 g MCT for two weeks had longer time to exhaustion at 80 % peak VO2 compared to those consuming equivalent amount of longer chain fats [36].
This lack of protective
short chain fats, like butyrate, is harmful to the intestines as well as to the whole body.
One of them is severe protein + carb restriction, but the other two — short -
chain fat consumption and supplementation of the ketogenic amino acids lysine and leucine — can generate ketosis even if substantial carbs and protein are eaten.
Due to the fact that the medium -
chain fats found in coconut are absorbed easily and made use of as a source of energy by the body preferentially, the body's metabolic rate is actually increased.
MCTs don't need bile salts to be digested and can pass directly from the digestive system to the blood stream without being modified by digestion like
