This would be the perfect time to try a homemade
chalk finish paint.
With that being said, glaze is not a great product to use over
chalk finish paint.

When making your own

Before the wax completely dried, I slopped on a white wash I made out of about 50 % DIY white
chalk finish paint and 50 % water.
Once it's finished and dry, distress if you'd like and then seal with a polyacrylic sealer or some wax (
chalk finish paint usually gets a wax sealer.)

With a medium - to full - coverage
finish, this liquid foundation completely camouflages pores, blemishes, and fine lines, and the formula is still hydrating enough that it won't feel like
chalk on your face.
I will say, I absolutely love the look and durability of
chalk paint once I am
finished.
I use poly over
chalk paint because it gives a great smooth
finish and holds up to wear and tear better than a wax.
I used Decoart's Americana Chalky
Finish chalk paint in Everlasting for the body of the dresser.
I gave the chair two coats of
chalk paint, then
finished it off with Americana Deep Brown Wax.
Once you have achieved a solid,
finished look with the
chalk paint, apply 1 to 2 layers of the Polycrylic.
So I dry brushed it with Coco
Chalk Paint for dimension, sanding it just enough for a slightly distressed
finish, and ending up with a soft farmhouse look.
Tip: using cardstock becomes a little messy... if you are using
chalk paint you can always sand down the sloppy edges and then
finish it off with a dry brush technique in the old white to fade some of the those not so nice spots.

Chalk Paint ® Wax to protect it.
You can paint anything with
chalk paint, it's what you
finish it with that determines the durability.
Would you go ahead and use satin paint instead of flat if making your own
chalk paint, and then follow that up with a good
finishing wax to add extra durability in such a high traffic room?
I'm going to reapply the
chalk paint and
finish with a poly.
Can I just say how glad I am that you can paint right over the
finished wax with more
Chalk Paint??
