chalk paint as well, although there were only a few colors available.

paint must have a very high ammonia content because within a few hours after completing the stools I smelled a very strong and distinct «cat pee» smell that was driving me crazy... I used vintage grain / feed sacks to upholster the seats and

Once all of the boards were screwed I
painted the entire thing in two coats of Amy Howard
at Home
chalk based
paint in Bauhaus Buff.
They even sell a
chalk finish
paint at the craft stores now in the little bottles.
At Michaels, I saw a few brands (Americana, FolkArt, Martha Stewart and another one I can't remember the name of) offering
chalk and chalky
paint options in a wide range of colors.
Stores like Michael's sells small jars of
chalk paint (in same sizes as the craft acrylic
paint)
at affordable costs so you no longer have to commit to a full pint size jar.
I made my own
chalk paint and just went
at it.
And I'm glad you made the outright statement «
chalk paint can be applied without sanding» because I didn't go to the Annie Sloan session and I had read other people make hints
at that, but I wasn't totally sure... I'm glad to hear how easy it is, and that you used 220 sandpaper to distress.
I finally found base coat
chalk white
at a
paint store in Kalamata but all the other goodies here seem no where to be found.
Luckily I didn't use
chalk paint after taking to a guy
at the
paint store and instead bought XIM plastic / vinyl primer and then a Benjamin Moore advance
paint for cabinets that they highly recommended.

I want to try this method, I've been making my own

painted my china cabinet, and used the Minwax dark wax to antique it, it's not for everyone, but the look is just what I want, old world look, not even put it has character, I am doing my coffee table as well, I find very ornate pieces cheap and

chalk paint and then go over it with the Minwax dark, let it sit for 15 min and buff, then add another layer of wax, its so much fun, but the problem I'm having is I'm ADD and I have 5 projects going

I found an old piece of wood
at home and
painted it with the
chalk paint.
My advice to anyone that plans on using Menards
chalk paint is to take that
paint chip sheet outside to look
at the colors in natural light.

chalk paint all you need is unsanded grout which can be found in the tile section
at Lowes and your choice of latex

At first, I thought I would need to thin down the thick
chalk paint, so I filled the sprayer container with
paint and mixed in a small amount of water until it had a consistency closer to regular
paint.
