I went for the distressed
chalk paint look and first finished with polycrylic (which bubbled up), and then refinished with a couple coats of furniture wax.
It does leave some brush marks, again, it's made to resemble
the chalk painted look but with a much easier application.
Chalk paint looks great distressed but I didn't distress this piece, I was enjoying the smoother finish.
For a contemporary finish -
Chalk paint looks great — it does not have to be sanded or aged.

paint in a sumptuous range of colours, heavily distressing the piece to give it this rustic
look.
To achieve Annie's signature
look, apply a thin coat of wax over your
painted surface with a small
Chalk Paint ® Wax Brush.
Just know that a satin will dry will a light sheen, not the matte
look that
chalk paint is known for.
That said, go easy on the
chalk paint, I'm sure it will
look great ☺
I have been thinking of doing a white wash
look with
chalk paint on a dinning table but I'm a little nervous about it because I'm worried it won't stand up to kids and I love the color of this dresser.
Annie Sloan's chalkpaint product is wonderful, but I didn't want to drive a long distance to get it or pay the $ 30 - $ 40, so I started

I will say, I absolutely love the
look and durability of
chalk paint once I am finished.
Once you have achieved a solid, finished
look with the
chalk paint, apply 1 to 2 layers of the Polycrylic.
I hated the original coppery color, so I just added a little turquoise
chalk paint (Riviera from Maison Blanche) to make it
look tarnished.
I had heard about Annie Sloan
chalk paint after doing some googling, and even though I would love more of a lacquered

painted this with a light blue
chalk paint color, but decided to go for the distressed gray and white wood

You can achieve a similar
look with other
paints (you can seem my tutorial here for achieving the «chippy»
look with
chalk paint), but milk
paint is unique in its vibrant transparency.

I want to try this method, I've been making my own
chalk paint, and
painted my china cabinet, and used the Minwax dark wax to antique it, it's not for everyone, but the
look is just what I want, old world
look, not even put it has character, I am doing my coffee table as well, I find very ornate pieces cheap and
paint a base cream
chalk paint and then go over it with the Minwax dark, let it sit for 15 min and buff, then add another layer of wax, its so much fun, but the problem I'm having is I'm ADD and I have 5 projects going at once!
