So here is my honest opinion about
the chalk paint method vs the Epoxy paint method.
Not exact matches
I made some
chalk paint using the plaster of paris
method and
painted my kitchen cabinets, loos great and so far holding up well, I did do a flat polycrilic afterwards.
On the harder ones I use the
chalk method then free hand the
paint.
You can also follow the
method that I did for my Fresh Farm Tool Box using all
chalk instead of oil pastels and
paint.
I want to try this
method, I've been making my own
chalk paint, and
painted my china cabinet, and used the Minwax dark wax to antique it, it's not for everyone, but the look is just what I want, old world look, not even put it has character, I am doing my coffee table as well, I find very ornate pieces cheap and
paint a base cream
chalk paint and then go over it with the Minwax dark, let it sit for 15 min and buff, then add another layer of wax, its so much fun, but the problem I'm having is I'm ADD and I have 5 projects going at once!
I agonized for months over exactly what to do with the cabinets (
Chalk Paint, Alkyd
Paint, Re-staining, Gel Stain, Refacing, Waiting until my husband was out of the house then smashing them to pieces so we'd be forced to get new cabinets... etc.) and finally landed on the no - sanding, prime and
paint method.
Using my Silhouette Cameo and
chalk paint, I created this cute Valentine's Day Canvas using the
Paint, Vinyl,
Paint, Peel
method.
BTW — I do love all the
chalk paint projects I'm seeing and wanted to give it a try but the more I read about it, the more I'm thinking it is less expensive and easier to stick with my old
method??

method, it works with DIY
chalk paint if you do it right after it feels dry to the touch.
