So I decided to add in some BB Frosch
chalk paint powder to Devine Color paint (from Target) to I had all the power of chalk paint but I had control of the color (and bonus it's MUCH cheaper!)
When I am ready to paint I mix some of
my chalk paint powder with the color and brand of paint of my choosing.
I honestly didn't even worry about the scratches and dings on the edges because I felt like they gave it characters and I knew that old trusty (aka BB Frosch
chalk paint powder) was self leveling and would fill in a lot of those gaps and imperfections for me anyway.

Once you have the calcium carbonate
powder, depending on the size of your desk, you will probably only need a few cups of
chalk paint.

Powder with both to make
chalk paint with great success.

chalk paint then you can use any
paint even with a primer in it.

paint and primer with the calcium carbonate
powder (CCP) to make
chalk paint.
I crushed the
chalk up and made a 2 parts acrylic
paint to 1 part
powdered chalk.

I have only used CCP, line marking
chalk powder, non-sanded grout, and PoP to make my DIY
chalk paint, but know that you can use gym
chalk and a lot of other
powders that have gypsum or
chalk as the main ingredient in them to make
chalk paint.

I really have to buy some of that Poppies
Paint Powder, it's the second time I've read about it and it makes it more economical than some of the other
chalk paint brands.
It's a
paint powder that you add to any latex
paint and it turns it into a
chalk paint.
I did buy BBFrosch
Chalk Paint Powder (only $ 10 for 4oz)- and I'm going to use that with some flat
paint this time.

P.S. I make my own
chalk paint using plaster of Paris

(don't use a moist towel since that
