chalk paint recipe because Plaster of Paris is toxic, carcinogenic to be specific and although I've heard it works great, I didn't want to get into it.

I've only used a DIY
chalk paint recipe w / Plaster of Paris paint and acrylic paint as well as other latex paints and haven't had any trouble with it becoming thick and unusable.
