Today I spent the day
chalk painting pumpkins and in between drying times I have been decorating for the Harvest Home Blog Hop which begins next Tuesday!
I recently
chalk painted a pumpkin and I loved how it looked.
I added my dried flowers from my yard and a beautiful
chalk painted pumpkin.
The great thing about these gold leaf and
chalk paint pumpkins is that you can start with any pumpkins.
Not exact matches
We used
chalk markers to
paint pumpkins.
It adds a little extra color and whimsy to the neutral toned
chalk -
painted pumpkins on the mantlepiece.
A couple years ago I
painted all my orange
pumpkins with AS
chalk paint in soft colors to blend in with my decor.
The white
pumpkins were in a bag that I purchased last year on sale and
painted white with
chalk style
paint.
I would've loved these
pumpkins even without the mud cloth patterns because the
chalk paint looks so good.
These pens have those tips that depress to release
paint, and regularly depressing (on a scrap piece of paper) and keeping the tip loaded with
paint will reduce any drag on the
pumpkin surface, therefore reducing chances of scraping off the
chalk paint.
When all the
paint has dried, peel off the tape and begin
painting the top half of your
pumpkin with
chalk paint.
STEP 4: For the mini
pumpkins, I simply
painted the entire
pumpkin with
chalk paint.
I am known to
paint pumpkins every year, so this year I couldn't wait to try out Annie Sloan's
Chalk Paint on them!
I was dying to try the new
chalk paint colors and I chose to use Pure White on a couple of
pumpkins and French Linen on another two.
I have
painted real
pumpkins with latex
paint and
chalk paint and haven't had this happen.
I used white
chalk paint for the white
pumpkins and Valspar
paint in Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray color for the blue
pumpkins.
I really like the lighter
chalk finish on the
pumpkins, and the way you did the
chalk paint on the leaves as well.
Start by applying a few layers of
chalk paint to your
pumpkins (not the stems).

I never in a million years would have thought to
paint the
pumpkins / gourds with
chalk paint and then wax them... but it's brilliant!
