My original plan involved an off white
chalky paint on the bottom, and a weathered looking stain on the top.
Note: You can not use
black chalky paint for a chalkboard, looks good but your chalk design ends up embedded into the paint, you need to use real chalkboard paint my friends.

chalky paint several times with really good results on a desk in our guest room, a bench and some frames.
When waxing over Chalk Paint ®, you will have a
little chalky paint transfer back onto your wax brush.

Varathane Soft - Touch Poly in Matte is a great top coat for
chalky paint.
My rule of thumb is that if
your chalky painted furniture will get daily wear and tear, it's best to protect it with a top coat!

All I did was use left over «
chalky paint» and concrete left over from our countertops.
And I finished off the piece with clear soft - wax on both
the chalky paint and over the top of the table top.
