bread recipes can be made in a
bread maker, but braided or shaped
breads like
challah need to be baked in an oven.
Many
recipes I saw for apple
challah forewent the braid, and baked the
bread in a tin instead but it felt too much like cake to me.

challah bread a dozen or so times using your
recipe and a few others
recipes (include the one in
Bread Baker's Apprentice) but for some reason I can't seem to get the
bread as soft as the ones you get in the bakeries.

This is the first time I've ever commented on this (or any) food blog but I just had to because I made this
challah recipe today and it was just so easy and wonderful, even for a yeast
bread novice like myself.
I've used this
recipe a couple times and it's been great, but the bottoms of my
challah bread always seem too crispy or burnt.
First time making
bread ever and was directed to
challah by a more experienced baker (I've made a handful of your
recipes before and they've always worked out, so I knew you were the woman to go to).
I have little
bread baking background; however, I have a lot of experience in the
challah tasting department and this definitely hit the mark (even though I accidentally made it with one extra egg when I halved the
