There is still a way
for them both to play but it is more unlikely that Wenger will
change the
formation, with the squad that Arsenal have I do feel we could play 4 -4-2 diamond and the 2 man CF made up
of a tall strong CF (Giroud / Welbeck) and a pacey off the last man shoulder type
of CF (Theo / Alexis).
(3)
formation flexibility — it took 20 years
for Wenger to return to a back 3 and now he can't seem to choose anything but that
formation... the teams in the premiership and those we could face in the Europa will present vastly different tactics and we need to have a manager who can prepare this squad
for this eventuality and have the fortitude to make the necessary adjustments throughout the season... I have seen nothing in the past 6 - 7 years to suggest that he is the man to take on this challenge... I can't even remember when he
changed formations when he would replace a small, pacy striker, like during the Walcott experiment, with the lumbering Giroud...

There are so many positions to upgrade on it will be a 2 - 3 year building process because Wenger has failed to do this in the last couple

I get your point. But it won't help us if we're playing in 3 back and some
of our players are being played out
of position.Our success
of 3 back last season was more
of mentality than due to the
formation.The
formation seemed to renew the mind
of players and they started playing better.Little did people realize that we always go back to our old ways only to put up a strong surge in the end. We'll do well
for a while when we go back to 4 back because our players will again
change their mentality then after some time we'll go back to our old ways.
All

Nwakali is a forward or wing player, nothing like kante and Ramsey is a squad player
for me not first team quality, if Carzola is fit, him and xhaka would be a mouth watering fit but with Arsenals Injurie luck this seems inlikely but i wounder if the five at the back would work if we play a stubborn team that defends, i hope Arsene would
change the
formation in such games back to 4 -2-3-1 but this would require a proper rght wing which we havent had in years, we've had OX, Campell, Wallcot, Iwobi, Ramsey, Welbeck and Ozil play in that position and non
of them have made it their own like sanchez has with the left wing
However none
of Dem are naturally made
for dis job and so I expect a
change of formation from 4 -2-3-1 to 4 -3-3 Wid rosicky and welbeck coming in
for coquelin and ozil respectively.
For most
of the first half
of the season he was a regular starter but despite getting 3 League goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances (and 8 as sub), Wenger didn't think he was contributing enough to keep his place when the boss

formation to 3 -4-3 and he was sent back to the U23s.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer
for a variety
of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style
of play has become a shadow
of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out
of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid
of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out
of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes
of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play
of Monreal, but none
of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone
for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio
of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as
for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played
for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part
of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as
for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part
of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature
of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player
of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out
of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front
of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that,
of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one
of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that
formation... in Sanchez, we get one
of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad
for some years but that could all
change soon, if it hasn't already
of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs
of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack
of mobility is an albatross around the necks
of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because
of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
The
formation won't work this season with Giroud out till after Xmas and with Wenger spending so much on pace
for the wings, our style
of play will have to
change or we won't be scoring any goals.
Arsenal have
changed their
formation from a classic 442 to more
of a 4231 over the years, but our current three at the back system looks revolutionary
for the Gunners.
1) Great FA Cup win... every true supporter
of the club must agree on that and kudos to Arsene
for changing the
formation and eg playing Ox at Wing back and Holding in back three..
Walcot has over 100 goals
for arsenal fc, i don't think there is any English wiger currently playing top flight football that has scored more goals, the
change in
formation might not have done him any good, buh
for d fact that dude is our 2nd top scorer despite playing fewer games and considering that dude was our 2nd top scorer last season shows his importance to this club, since it's obvious he has lost d love
of d fans who prefers a flamboyant buh less effective player I think he should go to where he will be more valued, i love theo, very cool headed and very hardworking, his records r there
for all to c
Ainsley Maitland Niles in his two or so matches a CM has shown me that he can protect the back four and attack very well. Why is Wenger destroying the player at LB?I remember also telling everyone here earlier in the season that we should
change our
formation to four back and that Monreal and Kolasinac shouldn't be in the same team as one has to be rested and deputise
for the other.I don't care how consistent Monreal is and to me he has no CB qualities. He at times looks almost world class at LB but to me he has no qualities
of a CB.Why is Xhaka also starting?Coquelin is twice the player he is
for the role Xhaka should be playing.
Albeit it's understandable that the acquisition
of Sanchez, and the subsequent
changes in
formation, hasn't helped matters
for Rosicky, the 34 - year old would not be amused by falling way behind in the Arsenal pecking order.
My fellow gunners Wenger is a failure either you admit or not, though this is a preseason match which is less important just to make the players gain fitness, before the competitive matches commence, but at the same time Wenger's tactics and
formation should be questioned especially against big teams, he had conceded numerous goals against big teams in which today's match is a reflection
of what we are talking about, his old and out dated philosophy is no longer valid in modern football, no wonder Alexis Sanchez can't confide in his plans to propel the team in winning major honours, Wenger still believe in some
of the bunch
of fringe players he should have gotten rid
of in the team and replace them with world class players or players that are hungry
for success like Alexis, anyway there is still much time in the transfer window presently to do that, if he can
change the hands
of time and stop being too stubborn.
The
change of formation and the recent consecutive wins against the poorer teams only masked the old problems that have never been addressed
for more than ten years.
Secondly, Wenger needs to become far more flexible when it comes to his
formation selections... remember this is the same individual that hadn't used a 3 - back system
for 20 years and only conceded to the experiment when the proverbial shit hit the fan... you know it killed him to adopt «Conte's» system, which is probably why he resisted so long; in fact his stubbornness to adjust even earlier might have cost us the 4 hole... much like most sports that have tactical
formations, every team should have a «base» offensive and defensive scheme, but they likewise need to have some inherent flexibility depending on the opposing teams tactics and / or when specific substitutions are made... how many times have you watched a Wenger - run team make a late substitution but not
change their shape on the pitch... furthermore, how many times have you seen our team fail to make the necessary adjustments at halftime due to Wenger's tactical stubbronness, which often led to giving up goals in the early minutes
of the second - half... the best teams in the world know how to make halftime adjustments whereas we always seem to be surprised when the opposing team throws a wrinkle into the mix following halftime... this my friend is soccer 101
As much as I believe our side will look to predominantly use the 3 -4-2-1
formation for the remainder
of the campaign, Arsene Wenger will be forced into making a number
of changes following our hard - fought 120 minute victory over Man City on Sunday, and I think he'll opt to temporarily switch back to his former system
for today.
wenger needs to dump this bullshit 4141
formation... cramping spaces
for all 3 similar players in arteta ramsey wilshere there by making them out
of form just
change it to 4411 or 4231 4411 scez chambers — mert — kos — gibbs ox — ramsey — wishere — sanchez ozil welbeck
I think its a bit tough on the lad, don't forget he is still young and hasn't fully reached his potential just yet (24), either he improves his form or he sits out a while and actually watch how carzola and rosicky does it and a drastic
change in
formation is needed indeed.I think a good CDM would aid mertesacker quite well if you've followed Everton last season with Barry covering up
for distin and ideal quick defender yes would help koscielny and debuchy when marauding forward.Attack wise I see a lot
of potential in our forwards I just think we should consider our youth set up very well.
the game there has
changed before the match i was thinking about a
formation but flamini was not available in my
formation carzola was not in
for the simple reason he put a lot work in the last match i would have picked wallcott rosciky and gabrial having said that when the player sheet came out my first thought was yup the team is balanced the bench constituted walcott and chambarelain (speed) so in essence the plan was ok but it just was a disaster The 22 million dollar question who would one pick to secure a win in Monaco and advance into the quarter finals
of the champion league
I agree with those odds simply because i believe the some team that were stronger than Arsenal last season have done some really good business to further strengthen there squads, Bernardo Silva & Kyle Walker
for Man City with what they already have plus what pep will add plus its gonna be his second season so he will be a bit more familiar with the EPL and this may make them really tough to beat, Tiemoue Bakayoko & Antonio Rudiger Chealsea plus a top striker and Chelsea will sill be one
of the teams to beat, Tottenham are gonna be solid, they've kept the team together and Victor Lindelof & Romelu Lukaku
for Man - u and Mourinho is not done yet if the rumors are true and there also the Mourinho second season thing, as much as i'd like to be hopeful
for next season, i really do nt think Lacazette and Kolasinac are enough to make us challenge
for the league plus having Europa league will give the team less time to recover
for the weekend games, the
formation change is the only thing i see can make the difference.
It was in d final few games when
formation was
changed that Ramsey began to play well... his poor form
for most
of d season was why we missed Cazorla n felt Wilshere's absence gravely.
All
of the players are getting used to the new
change in
formation which is good
for the team.
I personally do not believe so, we had a solid def at the start
of the season after the liverpool game and we ended the season with 4 clean sheets from that
formation change and that includes a clean sheet against UTD while limiting City to 1 goal as we knocked them out the FA CUP and the same
for Chelsea who had scored the 2nd most goals in the EPL...
We all were crying
for wenger to
change his
formation few months back
of which he did.
Thats where Özil would play if it wasnt
for the
change of formation.
Kroenke doesn't pick the players
for a match, doesn't put which
formation to be used, doesn't motivate players, doesn't
change tactics when things aren't going write, doesn't substitute players late, so many stuffs that happen on the pitch that need not the attention or the presence
of Kroenke or Gazidis.
Although it will be incredibly difficult to ever match his contributions on the pitch, it's vitally important
for a former club legend, like Henry, to publicly address his concerns regarding the direction
of this club... regardless
of those who still feel that Henry has some sort
of agenda due to the backlash he received following earlier comments he made on air regarding Arsenal, he has an intimate understanding
of the game, he knows the fans are being hosed and he feels some sense
of obligation, both professionally and personally, to tell it like he sees it... much like I've continually expressed over the last couple months, this team isn't evolving under this current ownership / management team... instead we are currently experiencing a «stagnant» phase in our club's storied history... a fact that can't be hidden by simply
changing the
formation or bringing in one or two individuals... this team needs fundamental
change in the way it conducts business both on and off the pitch or it will continue to slowly devolve into a second tier club... regardless
of the euphoria surrounding our escape act on Friday evening, as it stands, this club is more likely to be fighting
for a Europa League spot
for the foreseeable future than a top 4 finish... we can't hope
for the failures
of others to secure our place in the top 4, we need to be the manufacturers
of our own success by doing whatever is necessary to evolve as an organization... if Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke can't take the necessary steps following the debacle they manufactured last season, their removal is imperative
for our future success... unfortunately, I strongly believe that either they don't know how to proceed in the present economic climate or they are unwilling to do whatever it takes to turn this ship around... just look at the current state
of our squad, none
of our world class players are under contract beyond this season, we have a ridiculous wage bill considering the results, we can't sell our deadwood because we've mismanaged our personnel decisions and contractual obligations, we haven't properly cultivated our younger talent and we might have become one
of the worst clubs ever when it comes to way we handle our transfer business, which under Dein was one
of our greatest assets... it's time to get things right!!!
Its true we all want wenger out or he shld
change (
change in transfer dealins, find solution to injury probs which is d main issue, and probably
change of mentality in sm games), bt I will not be a part to d giberish
of sm fans on wenger hatred
for pd10, I don't tink wenger hate him, he bought him and has givn him lots
of chances to prov himself, we all can not hide frm d fact dat pd10 workrate is apaulin nd dat he thriv as a lone striker in arsenal
formation, yes he can shoot acurately bt dat is far below expectation
of a lw, fotbal shld be a balance game btw ofence nd defenc nd most esp a winger shld be able to suport lefbak in defendin.
However,
for me, one
of the possible
formation changes could spell the end
for potentially
for at least one
of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen or Erik Lamela, and allows very little room
for rotation
for the likes
of Nacer Chadli or Heung - min Son.
In this article
for EPL Index, I tactically analyse how this new
formation has
changed the midfield strata
of the team, with cases from the thrilling 3 - 2 away win over West Ham United as well as the 2 - 1 triumph over rivals Arsenal.
Argentina
changed formation and played 4 -2-3-1
