A fine first half to the season is the only thing that has prevented Palace from being involved in a relegation dogfight and one can be sure that manager Alan Pardew will need to bring about significant
changes to his squad if the Eagles are to enjoy an upturn in fortunes next season.

If the claims that Wenger is only staying on the pretense that he is
to overhaul the
squad, then that surely is answering the calls for
change somewhat, although not the major thinking
change that the fans want.
I've been wondering recently
if the current Arsenal
squad aren't in fact in a state of limbo due
to the beginnings of a
change of style — or at least Wenger's adaptation of a style.
We need
to build on top of what we have and
if we're going
to change players it should be
to improve the
squad and it shouldn't mean strengthening our rivals by selling them players.
Like he said we can't clear out every player in one transfer window, even
if we need
to change half the
squad.
If we are not right in the mix I will join the chorus looking for
change because I don't think we will have too many decent excuses left — we have had 2 years post-spending restrictions, removing deadwood and getting the
squad to gel — now is the time.
After their loss
to Leicester City on Monday night, the reigning Premier League champions are just a point above the bottom three, and so it remains
to be seen whether a
change is made at managerial level, or
if the
squad is overhauled instead.
Let's not forget that we have an incredibly versatile
squad this year and
to not
change the formations now then will only limit us both tactically and in style of play, even
if this formation may just bring some control until Santi comes back why shouldn't we take it?
He plays same players over and over again and he doesn't
change tactics
to suit the opposition resulting in good players getting injured and other top class players leaving the
squad in search of playing opportunities.A top defender like Vermaleen shouldn't have left
if AW was doing rotation.Right now the injury list is increasing and Wenger doesn't
change.
If AW remains like that Podolski, Campbell, Rosicky, Nacho must leave in order
to serve their career.
For once it will be a stress free day we are in win win position
if Wenger buys someone its a bonus
if not it does not matter the
squad is getting stronger and other injured players not
to far away from returning we now have enough depth in
squad to see us through
to end of season so lets enjoy seeing other clubs racing around trying
to make last min signings for a
change!!!
Of course there is also the small matter of Arsene Wenger's contract
to be resolved, but
if Le Prof does re-sign for another two years he will have
to make massive
changes to the
squad one way or the other, and this would seem
to go against his usual philosophy of continuity, stability and cohesion, which has seen him keeping his team together and extending contracts of players that have come through the Arsenal youth system.
All of us are going
to have different opinions on formations and who should start when where etc but i think allot of us would worry for this
squad if we tried making big
changes at this point.
So
if Wenger really does intend
to stay and overhaul the
squad, how is he going
to justify a wholesale
change of playing staff?
the truth is that we did nt have a first 11 or
squad to win in a weak league last year... so far chelsea and the manchester clubs have invested in big
changes... and almost certainly for the better... spurs and leicester (
if they keep konte and mahrez) can build on their foundation of last season..
This attitude of wanting the club
to decline further just so a managerial
change can come in
to their liking is beyond petulant... Ozil, Xhaka, Bellerin, Mustafi, AOC, Koscielny are all solid building blocks for a quality
squad if a quality manager is
to take over..
It might be too late
to change squad numbers at this point too, so don't know
if Ozil can get it until summer... maybe January, but that's pretty unheard of.
Nwakali is a forward or wing player, nothing like kante and Ramsey is a
squad player for me not first team quality,
if Carzola is fit, him and xhaka would be a mouth watering fit but with Arsenals Injurie luck this seems inlikely but i wounder
if the five at the back would work
if we play a stubborn team that defends, i hope Arsene would
change the formation in such games back
to 4 -2-3-1 but this would require a proper rght wing which we havent had in years, we've had OX, Campell, Wallcot, Iwobi, Ramsey, Welbeck and Ozil play in that position and non of them have made it their own like sanchez has with the left wing
Remember when Arsenal did the unbeaten and won the title? Most of the praise
if not all went
to him. Some people here can not even mention the players in that
squad but they still give praise
to the manager.Today
if things aren't going well I think he shoukd take the blame. His constant attitude of unwillingness
to change is what will be his downfall.Arsene Wenger must go
if he doesn't
change.
We should have won because
if you were
to choose between the two
squad and pick one team maybe the spuds get two players with the rest made up of Arsenal players, our inability
to change in games is hurting us.
For now the club haven't walked the talk... they are making all those backroom
changes and it ia a good thing
if it leads
to better preparation, less injuries and better competition within the
squad.
It remains
to be seen
if all of these transfers will come
to fruition, but the Blues are seemingly ready
to make the required
changes to fine - tune their
squad as they look
to get even better next season, following up their double win this year with improvement in the Champions League.
But
if he fails
to reinforce the
squad with whats truly needed then that's when the fan's really need
to become one and vent their anger and frustrations in and around the Emirates... demanding immediate
changes.
This is an incredibly difficult question
to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only
to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute...
if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel
to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards
to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current
squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems
to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early
to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency
to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs
to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious
to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season,
if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently
to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow
to ever boss the midfield and he tends
to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed
to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready
to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him
to use Francis and then he had the nerve
to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary
to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed
to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends
to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little
to no sense considering what he has
to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford
to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try
to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards
to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair
to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went
to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit...
if I had
to choose one of those 3 players
to stay on it would be Ox due
to his potential as a plausible alternative
to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue
to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this
squad for some years but that could all
change soon,
if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due
to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem
to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold
to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction
to heroin without the benefits
As things are, and
if there are no further
changes to the
squad.
And there lies the problem,
if Arsenals
squad was strong enough we would have won the league over the last 10 years, but we havent so there is the answer
to that question, Time for a
change!!
We didn't need a manager this season
if we're just gonna put out the same players that come 5th anyone could of done what wenger is doing it's easy I buy lacazette then put he same team out from the same
squad even when I have injuries it's easy just put out the rest of the
squad and play them out of position I mean I'd take 8mil
to do that oxlade at lwb kolansinac at cb elneny cm holding rcb there's no work of a manager there just put in players were others ain't ready
to play then buy nobody else and do interviews with the same excuses job done next game
change some ppl around but same ppl that came 5th then sell Alexis do interviews same excuses job done transfer window closes fans wish they never supported arsenal wenger laughing
to the bank job done
He has chopped and
changed his
squad so much it would be easy
to forgive him
if he has forgotten some of those players.
2nd sure Walcott has become a
squad player and it doesn't look like it will
change anytime soon! But even thought he is less important than he used
to be thanks
to some youth prospect finally stepping up (Ox) and our new transfer policy ($ $ $) he still has that pace and ability
to score and create havoc after 1
to 1,5 year out your rusty but obviously
if he's dead on a pay raise I wouldn't go as far as
to say he's holding us ransom but it is too much considering he's current impact and importance
to the
squad... Sure we could argue that he will rediscover his form and give us 20 + goals a season and not sustain an injury anymore but how sure are we?
Kinda makes sense though, the only reason people are asking for another CDM is because we all fear the possibility of injury
to coquelin and know flamini is usless, beilick is inexperienced so it begs the question what happens
if an injury where
to occur, but wîth how many midfielders we have in the
squad i think it could allow us
to change a tactical approach and potentially experiment with people like Ramsey and Wishere potentially playing a deeper role??? But the striker is a must as i mentioned earlier Giroud went 8 games without scoring a goal and none of the other strikers stepped up
to the plate, we cant have a drought of goals when your the quest for titles...
So after 4 competitive games we can see the makings of a
squad that can't compete for EPL or cl... Bringing in rotation players won't
change the equation as we already have too many mediocre performers...
if we bring in quality DM and attacker I think we can have a first team
to match the best and hope fitness and injuries aren't against us... otherwise it's another underperforming season ahead
Time for some brutal honesty... this team, as it stands, is in no better position
to compete next season than they were 12 months ago, minus the fact that some fans have been easily snowed by the acquisition of Lacazette, the free transfer LB and the release of Sanogo...
if you look at the facts carefully you will see a team that still has far more questions than answers...
to better show what I mean by this statement I will briefly discuss the current state of affairs on a position - by - position basis... in goal we have 4 potential candidates, but in reality we have only 1 option with any real future and somehow he's the only one we have actively tried
to get rid of for years because he and his father were a little too involved on social media and he got caught smoking (funny how people still defend Wiltshire under the same and far worse circumstances)... you would think we would want
to keep any goaltender that Juventus had interest in, as they seem
to have a pretty good history when it comes
to that position... as far as the defenders on our current roster there are only a few individuals whom have the skill and / or youth worthy of our time and / or investment, as such we should get rid of anyone who doesn't meet those simple requirements, which means we should get rid of DeBouchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Mertz and loan out Chambers
to see
if last seasons foray with Middlesborough was an anomaly or a prediction of things
to come... some fans have lamented wildly about the return of Mertz
to the starting lineup due
to his FA Cup performance but these sort of pie in the sky meanderings are indicative of what's wrong with this club and it's wishy - washy fan - base... in addition
to these moves the club should aggressively pursue the acquisition of dominant and mobile CB
to stabilize an all too fragile defensive group that has self - destructed on numerous occasions over the past 5 seasons... moving forward and building on our need
to re-establish our once dominant presence throughout the middle of the park we need
to target a CDM then do whatever it takes
to get that player into the fold without any of the usual nickel and diming we have become famous for (this kind of ruthless haggling has cost us numerous special players and certainly can't help make the player in question feel good about the way their future potential employer feels about them)... in order for us
to become dominant again we need
to be strong up the middle again from Goalkeeper
to CB
to DM
to ACM
to striker, like we did in our most glorious years before and during Wenger's reign... with this in mind,
if we want Ozil
to be that dominant attacking midfielder we can't keep leaving him exposed
to constant ridicule about his lack of defensive prowess and provide him with the proper players in the final third... he was never a good defensive player in Real or with the German National
squad and they certainly didn't suffer as a result of his presence on the pitch... as for the rest of the midfield the blame falls squarely in the hands of Wenger and Gazidis, the fact that Ramsey, Ox, Sanchez and even Ozil were allowed
to regularly start when none of the aforementioned had more than a year left under contract is criminal for a club of this size and financial might... the fact that we could find money for Walcott and Xhaka, who weren't even guaranteed starters, means that our whole business model needs a complete overhaul... for me it's time
to get rid of some serious deadweight, even
if it means selling them below what you believe their market value is just
to simply right this ship and
change the stagnant culture that currently exists... this means saying goodbye
to Wiltshire, Elneny, Carzola, Walcott and Ramsey... everyone, minus Elneny, have spent just as much time on the training table as on the field of play, which would be manageable
if they weren't so inconsistent from a performance standpoint (excluding Carzola, who is like the recent version of Rosicky — too bad, both will be deeply missed)... in their places we need
to bring in some proven performers with no history of injuries... up front, although I do like the possibilities that a player like Lacazette presents, the fact that we had
to wait so many years
to acquire some true quality at the striker position falls once again squarely at the feet of Wenger... this issue highlights the ultimate scam being perpetrated by this club since the arrival of Kroenke: pretend your a small market club when it comes
to making purchases but milk your fans like a big market club when it comes
to ticket prices and merchandising... I believe the reason why Wenger hasn't pursued someone of Henry's quality, minus a fairly inexpensive RVP, was that he knew that they would demand players of a similar ilk
to be brought on board and that wasn't possible when the business model was that of a «selling» club... does it really make sense that we could only make a cheeky bid for Suarez, or that we couldn't get Higuain over the line when he was being offered up for half the price he eventually went
to Juve for, or that we've only paid any interest
to strikers who were clearly not going
to press their current teams
to let them go
to Arsenal like Benzema or Cavani... just part of the facade that finally came crashing down when Sanchez finally called their bluff... the fact remains that no one wants
to win more than Sanchez, including Wenger, and although I don't agree with everything that he has done off the field, I would much rather have Alexis front and center than a manager who has clearly bought into the Kroenke model in large part due
to the fact that his enormous ego suggests that only he could accomplish great things without breaking the bank... unfortunately that isn't possible anymore as the game has
changed quite dramatically in the last 15 years, which has left a largely complacent and complicit Wenger on the outside looking in... so don't blame those players who demanded more and were left wanting... don't blame those fans who have tried desperately
to raise awareness for several years when cracks began
to appear... place the blame at the feet of those who were well aware all along of the potential pitfalls of just such a plan but continued
to follow it even when it was no longer a financial necessity, like it ever really was...
Ozil has become well recognised as Arsenal's number 11 but is he hoping for a
change of
squad number
if he agrees
to a new deal.
I agree with those odds simply because i believe the some team that were stronger than Arsenal last season have done some really good business
to further strengthen there
squads, Bernardo Silva & Kyle Walker for Man City with what they already have plus what pep will add plus its gonna be his second season so he will be a bit more familiar with the EPL and this may make them really tough
to beat, Tiemoue Bakayoko & Antonio Rudiger Chealsea plus a top striker and Chelsea will sill be one of the teams
to beat, Tottenham are gonna be solid, they've kept the team together and Victor Lindelof & Romelu Lukaku for Man - u and Mourinho is not done yet
if the rumors are true and there also the Mourinho second season thing, as much as i'd like
to be hopeful for next season, i really do nt think Lacazette and Kolasinac are enough
to make us challenge for the league plus having Europa league will give the team less time
to recover for the weekend games, the formation
change is the only thing i see can make the difference.
Wenges lack of: — tactical astuteness — an ability
to identify and secure sufficient depth in key positions throughout his
squad for the season — awareness in the effect of playing players out of position — overall analysis;
if it isn't working perhaps
change things.
I think it has reached a point where enough is enough.the only way
to save our club is
if all fans are singing one thing and are together.there is no way we will anything while some guys sing only one arsene wenger and others wenger out.we need
to open our eyes and sing one song altogether only then can we propel
change that is essential for our beloved club.
if we keep going on this road then some fans will cme and regret when our club is officially a mid table team by then it would hve been too late for
change.i told guys and will keep saying which club in there right mind would sell a key player of there
squad with just days
to go before window is shut.its clear we weren't intrested
to invest into the market and yet again the club is showing us how ambitionless they are.sad but true our season has ended before it has even kicked off!!.
My POV is that Wenger has failed
to do his job, Yes injuries are a factor, a big one for us, I would still support Wenger
if I could see he is at least trying, rotating the
squad,
changing tactics
to obtain results, BUY the players you need
to reinforce your weak points, bottom line do your JOB....
well every season I cme with the same optimism that nxt season is our year.then we face the so called big boys, we get hammered and I always ask myself how and why were we nt able
to win.then wenger after an accidental twiq
to the
squad finds the reason why ARSENAL was poor.I.e emergence of coq showed him that we needed a world class dm addition what does he do settles for average.this season also striking department pissnpoor.I love iwobi but his emergence shows neednof a world class player there.now, every year I sit hoping wenger learns but I hve learned that he wilp not learn.the guys is blind just seeing the favourisim in the club shows that.his blind with faith and fears benching his favourite players.we need someone qho will see the problem and rectify it, pple hve pointed out for him the problm yet he he is still blind.I hope he prooves me wrong but I wouldn't entertain another year of
ifs and thebbiggest
if will be why didn't we
change guard.
if fans will entertain another year of heroic fourth place run in, all I can say webr killing our club open ur eyes before reality gives us a part two coz its has realy kicked us in the gut this season showing us the truth.its arsenal I I love coyg!!
If I was Wenger I would start training with this
squad for Chelsea, but for our midweek, I would have a few
changes made — Welbeck rests and Akpom comes in
to start.
Although it will be incredibly difficult
to ever match his contributions on the pitch, it's vitally important for a former club legend, like Henry,
to publicly address his concerns regarding the direction of this club... regardless of those who still feel that Henry has some sort of agenda due
to the backlash he received following earlier comments he made on air regarding Arsenal, he has an intimate understanding of the game, he knows the fans are being hosed and he feels some sense of obligation, both professionally and personally,
to tell it like he sees it... much like I've continually expressed over the last couple months, this team isn't evolving under this current ownership / management team... instead we are currently experiencing a «stagnant» phase in our club's storied history... a fact that can't be hidden by simply
changing the formation or bringing in one or two individuals... this team needs fundamental
change in the way it conducts business both on and off the pitch or it will continue
to slowly devolve into a second tier club... regardless of the euphoria surrounding our escape act on Friday evening, as it stands, this club is more likely
to be fighting for a Europa League spot for the foreseeable future than a top 4 finish... we can't hope for the failures of others
to secure our place in the top 4, we need
to be the manufacturers of our own success by doing whatever is necessary
to evolve as an organization...
if Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke can't take the necessary steps following the debacle they manufactured last season, their removal is imperative for our future success... unfortunately, I strongly believe that either they don't know how
to proceed in the present economic climate or they are unwilling
to do whatever it takes
to turn this ship around... just look at the current state of our
squad, none of our world class players are under contract beyond this season, we have a ridiculous wage bill considering the results, we can't sell our deadwood because we've mismanaged our personnel decisions and contractual obligations, we haven't properly cultivated our younger talent and we might have become one of the worst clubs ever when it comes
to way we handle our transfer business, which under Dein was one of our greatest assets... it's time
to get things right!!!
That said, I do agree on the signings point — my main argument is that
if you believe we need them then an explanation of why and how this would
change the
squad would be more enjoyable
to read than a simple statement of facts and then an opinion without analysis.
I'd be happy
if he's able
to change that.He hates
to tweak things in his system which is his main problem.Contrary
to what people think I think with proper tactics, formation and mentality this
squad can win the EPL.Many will doubt it but
if these three things are checked we can win the EPL.The neglect of these three things is what has brought Arsenal's failures over the years. The signs are there that it is set
to continue.
If Arsenal had gotten all the players we had needed we would still have been playing badly because of those three things being neglected.
Once top 3 is secured then think about giving some more of the
squad a run out ahead of wembley, until then play the team that has got us
to where we are now, only
changing for injuries or
if the manager feels a certain player needs a start.
With the lack of depth in Liverpool's
squad Klopp is unable
to ring too many
changes, even
if he might have been tempted
to following defeat against Palace last time out.
And
if you don't agree with the selections below, make sure you have a rant in the Comments section and feel free
to put forward your suggested
changes or even an entirely different
squad from scratch!
although u are right, but u need 2 know dat d problem arsenal is aving is not of age but is of aving good reserves.we should all clamour 4 our coach
to sign about 5 quality players irrespective of their age.
IF D LIKE OF MESSI CAN B A PHENOMENON EVEN AT YOUNG AGE; AND D LIKE OF CHAMBERLAIN CAN
CHANGE MATCH AGAINST AC MILAN; AND ALSO
IF DORTMUND WITH THEIR YOUNG
SQUAD CAN WIN BUNDESLIGA; THEN QUALITY IS WHAT WE NEED AND NOT AGE.
But in January we check again
to see
if we
change the names in the
squad.
Match Predictions: The beauty of United's
squad is even
if Mourinho decided
to make 6 - 7
changes they can still put up a very strong side and that is where potentially United slow start
to the season can end as a trophy laden year.

For those of you Ghost Recon fans who are wondering
if the
changes have been favorable
to the series, my response
to you is yes this game does much better then it did in the past, which leads us
to one of the,
if not the best, best
squad based shooters on the market today.
