charter networks have signed the contract and received city funding, some
charter leaders have said the contract is overly restrictive and in

charters» critical work educating high -
need students.

charter schools to earn a broad base of popularity, we
need to build stronger authorizing systems that enable school
leaders to drive innovation while setting clear expectations about outcomes and accountability.

charter leaders now meet regularly with researchers and legal experts to understand facts and work on solutions together to ensure that
charter schools effectively serve all students with special
needs.
While federal support and state - level legislative changes are crucial to wide - scale excellence in the
charter sector, city
leaders need not sit on the sidelines.
Because political
leaders come and go, a long - term strategy like
chartering needs people and organizations that have the staying power required to faithfully implement and refine the strategy over a long period of time.
Charter school
leaders need building space and can pursue the mission of many
charters, to help improve the broader system.
As a new Administration takes shape in Washington, with an education
leader who has long been an advocate of parental choice, the
charter school movement
needs to redouble its efforts to turn happy parents into active warriors for
charter schools and school choice.
A district
leader said they
need their
charter partners to better understand the political reality of co-locations, turnarounds, and closures, and to find ways to help take some of the political heat or provide cover for those kinds of decisions — which are extremely unpopular with community
leaders and board members.
«There are no watchdogs in Detroit to make sure parents [of children with special
needs] get what they
need from schools,» said a
charter school
leader.
Local
leaders also told us that they believe the governor is the only official who has the
needed credibility and authority to weigh in on negligent
charter authorizers.
What makes these programs particularly interesting is that their founders were
leaders from the
charter school sector who created their own teacher certification and master's degree programs after concluding that the teachers who graduate from most traditional teacher education programs lack the skills
needed to teach successfully.
The Washington - based National Alliance for Public
Charter Schools projects that
charters will
need anywhere from 6,000 to 21,000 new
leaders over the next decade.
Charters have been praised for opening the schoolhouse door to entrepreneurial, energetic teachers and
leaders as well as for raising student achievement in high -
need regions.

With more autonomy to provide flexibility to school
leaders and teachers,
charter schools generate innovative and individualized - learning environments that meet the unique

New York, NY — Thousands of New York City students, parents and teachers marched across the Brooklyn Bridge today to communicate a simple message to the city's
leaders:
charter school families
need your support.
Come out and network with
charter leaders in your region, discuss how we can best support your schools and talk about your unique regional
needs.
Come network with colleagues and engage in discussions about issues critical to the
needs in
charter leaders in our area.
The survey, showing a 56 - 34 percent support for more
charter schools, comes just days before thousands of families, teachers and community
leaders will rally on the Brooklyn Bridge next Tuesday to communicate a simple message to city and state
leaders:

Across all four UChicago
Charter campuses spanning grades Pre-K to 12,
leaders, teachers, staff, parents, and students have worked diligently to instill a college - graduating culture, preparing and supporting alumni not only for acceptance to college, but cultivating the academic mindsets and creating the supports

needed in several areas, including a full capital study to examine the costs of
charter and traditional public schools; a review of literate and illiterate poverty, and concentration of poverty by district; and a full transportation costs study.

leaders of the individual schools continue to make all management decisions; CEI provides resources and tools that schools
need to make the best decisions while also serving as a uniquely centralizing force for independent, public
charter school educators.
Poised to influence educational policy, practice and performance across the country, the Institute provides and connects
charter school authorizers, governing boards, school
leaders, founders and other stakeholders who are serious about ensuring all students are prepared for success in college, work and life with the programs, tools, services, counsel and support they
need.
With the return to local control, NPS
leaders will
need to work with the city's surging
charter sector to ensure opportunity and equity citywide.

charters through that process.
When House Bill 2186 passed in Oregon,
leaders at Willamette Leadership Academy (WLA), a public
charter school that uses a military structure for behavior management,
needed an automated performance evaluation solution to help them meet the new performance evaluation requirements... and they knew exactly where to look.
While the district says the policies are
needed to hold
charter schools accountable, a coalition of
charter leaders say the rules unduly limit the autonomy afforded
charter schools under state law and their ability to offer a high - quality education.
