The assessment
of Child Occupant Protection covers three aspects: the protection offered by the child restraint systems in the frontal and side impact tests; the vehicle's ability to accommodate child restraints of various sizes and designs; and the availability of provisions for safe transport of children in the car.

child occupant protection, 74 percent for pedestrian protection and 72 percent for assistance systems, edging out the new Discovery's score.

While the Range Rover SUV loses out in some areas compared to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which scored 97 percent for adult occupant protection and 84 percent in
child occupant protection, the Velar beats the Alfa Romeo SUV in the pedestrian and assistance categories by three and 12 percent, respectively.
With scores for Adult occupant protection of 88 % and
child occupant protection of87 %, the Renault helps keep people in the vehicle safe.
Since February 2009, a vehicle must receive a minimum value in all four categories (adult occupant protection,
child occupant protection, pedestrian protection, safety assist) as well as in the overall assessment to gain a five star award.
Although the new Mini JCW hasn't gone through the Euro NCAP crash tests, its down - to - Earth brother, namely the Mini Cooper got four stars overall and was rated at 79 percent adult occupant protection, 73 percent
child occupant protection and 56 percent for safety assistance features.
