child may have some meltdowns or throw tantrums in the beginning.
If a school promotes sales of sodas and snacks, it reinforces the idea that
children are supposed to be

Moms are seriously concerned about many aspects of

junk food is cheaper than good
food, 74 percent said too many
children are overweight, and 72 percent said that prepared
foods contain too much sugar.
However, separate figures from the Department of Health (DoH) show more
children are
eating five or more portions off fruit and vegetables a day, thanks to schemes offering free fruit in schools and a clampdown on
junk food.
Have you ever wondered why young
children can
eat bags of Halloween candy and feel fine the next day — compared to adults who experience all sorts of agony following the same
junk food binge?
Nestle: Well, we will do it in the way these changes always take place — you do it through education of the public; you create demands for different kinds of
foods; you teach parents to go into schools and look at what their kids are
eating and then do something about it; you change policy so that it becomes more difficult for
food companies to advertise to
children; you stop them from marketing
junk food to kids using cartoon characters.
This is not to say, of course, that you shouldn't set limits or that you should allow access to
foods 24/7, but if a
child is truly not hungry (or using this as an excuse to not
eat healthy
foods), don't force the issue or resort to
junk food just to get them to
eat something.
I never want my
children to feel like they aren't fitting into a social situation because they can't
eat the
food but I also am just not okay with them
eating junk that hurt their bodies.
If your
child feels like they are disappointing you by
eating junk foods that are «bad» then they might develop a «closet
eating» habit or binge when you are not around because they feel like they will never have access to
junk foods again.

eat when they are hungry and because this is a new problem, it is not because he doesn't like the
foods you are offering, he just likes the
junk better, like most of us.
When Rawmarsh School decided to impose a ban on
children visiting local shops at lunchtimes and reworked the menu in line with Jamie Oliver's healthy
eating campaign without seeking insight into parental opinion, the upshot was the shocking images of mothers handing
junk food to
children through the school railings.
Children would rather

junk foods but as a parent, your job is to be the leader.
