I find one pound of ground beef is enough in this
recipe; i have never used the carrots; never added the celery, but do substitute celery salt for the salt; i have on occasion added green pepper; I typically use three cans of diced tomatoes instead of the one can and can of purée; instead of the 2 tbsp
chili powder i use ground ancho
chilis.
For clarity in
recipes, however, I can understand that it is probably best to state specifically which ground
chili powder is used.

Being specific (i.e., ground Ancho
chili powder) makes it perfectly clear that the

chili powder.
This adjusted
recipe actually works without all the excess cost of the store bought
chili powder!
The
recipe only called for
chili powder and cumin, but I could probably just sub this taco seasoning for both of those and it would only make it that much better, you think?

chili powder and egg whites, riffing on the fire and spice nuts (this site, excellent).
I normally go with more
chili powder too, but in this
recipe I wanted the chipotle flavor to be the most predominant.
