For years, nutrition experts and healthy food advocates have been calling for a ban
on chocolate milk in schools to help curb childhood obesity.
The study, titled «Chocolate Milk Consequences: A Pilot Study Evaluating the Consequences of Banning
Chocolate Milk in School Cafeterias,» examined what happened when chocolate and other flavored milks were removed from the cafeterias at 11 Oregon elementary schools.
«
What chocolate milk in schools does is to tell kids by example that they don't have to drink milk unless it is sweet, that foods aren't good unless they are sweet, and that schools think flavored milks are good for kids,» said MarionNestle, a nutritionist, New York University professor and influential author of «What to Eat.»
