I just made these vegan using earth balance instead of butter, 2 tbs ground flax
mixed with 3 tbs
water for egg, and dairy free
chocolate chips (no white
chocolate chips).

chocolate (I shaved a 4 oz bar) but you can also use 1/2 cup of
chocolate chips as well
The
chocolate is the only flavor I have tried - I
mix 1 scoop
with a banana, a splash of
water, 4 ice cubes and a scoop of peanut butter.
He prefers carob to
chocolate, so I simply
mixed some carob powder
with water to make a paste, and
mixed it
with peanut butter.
The yeast activated fine, but I think adding to the flour
with hot
chocolate / butter /
water mix killed the yeast!
Directions: Beat yolks by hand or
with an electric beater / Gradually pour in the sugar and beat until thick and pale yellow / Stir in the liqueur and set the bowl in a pan of almost - simmering

Chocolate dough: in a bowl of a
mixer with a dough - hook put flour, cocoa, yeast, oil, sugar, eggs,
water and salt and knead for about 10 - 13 minutes, until the dough is uniform and slightly sticky.
When I say hot cocoa I don't mean that powder stuff that you
mix with water for milk to get some sort of
chocolate flavored
water.

The cake itself is a perfectly soft, moist
