On average, according to the findings of University of Massachusetts economist Dale Ballou, the higher the quality of an individual's undergraduate institution, the less likely a student is to
choose a teaching career.
Of the teachers who answered our questions, 24 percent say they're burned out and 32 percent say they wouldn't
choose a teaching career again... While not scientific, the survey is still noteworthy in that 4,500 public school teachers participated.
They have never had anything good to say about career teachers who studied kids and schooling, who
chose a teaching career because it was a calling.
