BMW
chops the roof off its soon - to - be-on-our-shores 1 - series coupe.
Normally, when automakers build a gorgeous new sports car, they debut it as a coupe and promise to
chop the roof off a year later.
Chopping the roof off a car presents its own engineering challenges, primarily stiffness and structural rigidity.
The drop - top model starts with the three - door Evoque coupe and
chops the roof off, replacing it with a folding fabric top.
After revealing the Corvette at the Detroit Motor Show, Chevrolet has
chopped its roof off for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Instead of simply
