While we all take some inspiration from ancient paganisms, there are some groups who are deeply dedicated to studying the primary texts and archaeological records of
their chosen cultural framework to try to make their paths as close to their spiritual ancestors as reasonably possible in the modern world — this includes the use of bonfires and occasionally animal sacrifice.
Post-modern radicalism postulates that the individual, in order to exercise his right to
choose, must be able to free himself from all normative
frameworks — whether they be semantic (clear definitions), ontological (being, the given), political (sovereignty of the state), moral (transcendent norms), social (taboos, what is forbidden),
cultural (traditions) or religious (dogma, doctrine of the Church).
So are people who support the bill on the ground that they are defending the interests of Muslim women to dress as they see fit (as long as they don't wear a veil) presuming to read the minds of the women who
choose to wear it and to understand the social /
cultural / religious
framework in which those minds are made up?
