By doing so, schools will more effectively train students in the skills and dispositions necessary for productive
citizenship in a democracy (Macedo et al., 2005).
Further, teachers must practice communication and be informants to the community, they must understand and promote the role of
citizenship in a democracy, and they must model transformational learning, demonstrating to students that they themselves are always learning deeply and meaningfully.
