The First
Class lounge shares showers with the Business
Class lounge (a lot of airline
lounges do this) but there was a long line waiting to use them
so I didn't get a chance to take a look and see what they're like.
I think there is something
so decadent about showering at an airport, particularly at the Etihad business
class lounge.

So on such trips when all the communal standard
class seats are taken by people sprawled out asleep I've found myself casting envious eyes at the welcoming doors of the Executive VIP Airport
Lounges, with their plush receptions staffed by welcoming airline employees, bright - eyed no whatever what ungodly hour it is, and imagining the delights that lay within.
With a few hours to kill before my onward flight I had plenty of time to check out the Business
Class lounge's facilities, seating and dining options...
so how did it rate?

I'm choosing to book the First
Class award from the Middle East (Doha) specifically
so that I can try out the recently opened (and apparently very nice) First
Class Al Safwa
lounge.
The benefits of achieving a
so - called «elite» status vary, but can include access to
lounges (regardless of travel
class), a bonus in elite qualifying miles when flying in first or business
class, the ability to reserve better seats including enhanced economy
class, free or discounted upgrades, priority in standing by for a different flight, priority in not being bumped if a flight is oversold, fewer or no nuisance fees,... well, you get the picture.
Turkish Airlines has a terrific business
class cabin, arguably the best food in the sky, one of the best airport
lounges in the world (in Istanbul) and an excellent intra-Europe network,
so you can enjoy it even if you don't want to go to Istanbul.
I'm
so used to having free airport
lounge access whether with a premium
class seat or via my credit card benefits, that I really don't mind longer layovers or getting to an airport a bit earlier than I have to.
So it doesn't matter what carrier you are flying with or if you're flying first
class or basic economy, as long as you have your American Express card with you and your boarding pass and ID, you can get access to the
lounge.
On the other hand, you can only redeem them for tickets in the cheapest fare buckets,
so it's difficult to find situations where you'll get more value than you would redeeming for Skyclub
lounge passes or amenity vouchers, for those unfortunate moments when you aren't upgraded to First
Class.
I still had some time to kill
so I decided to check out the other Oneworld
lounges, starting with the Cathay Pacific First and Business
Class Lounge.

lounges if you are travelling on a member airline in international First
Class or Business

So Clearly there are no
lounges that will accept our day passes, unless you might know of another way to obtain a pass without having to pay $ 100 for an annual
lounge membership.
So I'd rank the Emirates First
Class Lounge in Dubai as my third favorite
lounge overall.
