While many frequent flyers use Lufthansa miles to get into their (and Swiss) first class cabins without waiting until the last minute, as Lufthansa doesn't release first class awards to partners until very close to departure, first
class redemptions with Miles & More can in many cases be the worst value awards because of fees.
Unfortunately, the business
class redemptions with Flying Blue to South America are not very good at all and you can do much better if you can book with other airlines.
You should be able to get around 1.4 cents per point in value for economy
class redemptions with your Qantas points.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points offer best in
class redemption with opportunity to transfer to travel partners, redeem for cash or book for travel through the Ultimate Rewards Portal.

My first
class was

redemption rates, you shouldn't have any trouble earning the necessary miles to fly American Airlines business
class.
If your flights are more than 650 miles, you can still find some great value
with British Airways Avios when flying within Asia and Europe, as they often have some of the better
redemption rates for both economy

Out of the cheapest options for
redemption on this route, you probably have the best chance of finding first
class availability
with British Airways and Alaska Airlines.

The economy
redemption rate is relatively competitive

But I was even more excited to make my first
redemption for a round - trip flight to South East Asia
with the return flying Thai and Lufthansa first
class.
Fuel surcharges are going to be significant if you want to fly British Airways in First
Class, but using your miles is still a great way to access a ticket that would otherwise cost $ 5,000 or more one - way — especially if you can pair your

If you're looking to fly Air France first
class, you'll need to book through Flying Blue, but paying the exorbitant Flying Blue rates to fly first
class on a partner airline, rather than booking those seats through that partner or another SkyTeam member
with good first
class redemptions, is a waste of miles, particularly if you're transferring from a transfer program.
Korean Air offers one of the best ways to get to Europe in business
class with its ridiculously low
redemption rate of 80,000 miles.
United's current business
class award
redemption rate is 57,500 miles (though this is changing in November
with MileagePlus» most recent devaluation), and will usually be through either Amsterdam or Brussels.
I'd rather store them elsewhere where I can get better value on my
redemptions — or even earn points
with a transferable currency like Citi, Chase, or American Express» reward programs, so I can transfer them to any carrier where I can get a fantastic first or business
class award.
Almost all of the search results you find for business
class redemptions will be mixed -
class cabins,
with the long legs from the States being in economy or at best premium economy.
Paying for Virgin Americas first
class cabin
with miles can get quite expensive, as the airline pegs their
redemptions to the cash value of the ticket.
Thus, I don't think I'd count on using Alaska miles to get to Australia
with Qantas but if I had a lot of Alaska miles, I'd certainly consider using them on a first
class Qantas
redemption.
With a load factor of 84 %, the carriers are constantly tweaking the cost of award flights by either raising
redemption levels or reducing the saver award inventory, especially in first and business
classes.
And that 100,000 award in business
class is also one of the best
redemption rates to get to Europe in business
class — it beats out all of the rates from major US airlines and competes
with some of the best available
redemptions (fees may be around $ 250).
Regardless of destination
with FlyingBlue, your best
redemption rates will be booking an economy
class ticket.
