With a bit more time spent polishing and developing key elements and its story this could have become a «
classic» as the potential is their for all to see, however in its current form it will sadly slip into the void of mediocrity that has claimed
so many third person
shooter in the past.
In my point of view this game is more for people who have played this series since Medal Of Honor 1, because Medal Of Honor is not
so «fancy» as «Call Of Duty» and «Battlefield», but it's a good
shooter game, and Medal Of Honor is a
classic.
At its gaming heart, Until Dawn Rush of Blood is n rails
shooter that is filled with all the
classic archetypes and clichés of the horror genre which makes the game
so fun.
Sure games like Halo and COD are awesome but they take the more realistic approach to the FPS genre (yes I know you are killing space aliens and the like in Halo but you get the idea)
so the more
classic type of
shooter where you just kill everything in sight with no mission objectives etc has kind of faded out, well that's what I thought untill I played Bulletstorm.
We've a Syndicate reboot in the pipeline for 1PM,
so look out for Jon's take on EA and Starbreeze's ambitious re-imagining of the
classic Bullfrog game that's now a futuristic
shooter.
Shooting opposing players does kill splat them, creating a small burst of your ink and sending them back to their respawn point —
so there are
classic shooter tropes still — but the emphasis on the environment makes Splatoon unique, fresh and perfect for a younger audience.
Classic arena
shooters such as Quake and Unreal Tournament have been absent from the recent gaming scene for far too long and
so, it is great to see at least one title attempting to fill that void, whether it be in free to play guise or not.
The top - end cabinet came with a great analogue flightstick and hydraulic motion and the set - up was
so popular, Sega followed it with a range of
classic arcade
shooters including G - Loc and Strike Fighter.
A cute little vertical
shooter that is undoubtedly more than inspired by
classic Twinbee series,
so I've decided to include it as part of our «3U Games» collection.
However, one
classic indie genre that we have not seen many examples of
so far is the bullet hell
shooter.
Dusk is a first person retro - themed first person fast - paced arcade
shooter that's inspired by
classic shooters from the mid to late 90s like Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D and
so many more.
I enjoyed
classic shooters like Gradius and R - Type
so much.
