But an «ineffective» rating on either the value - added side or the
classroom observations will automatically lead to an overall rating of ineffective as well, meaning that in some cases either test
results or
observations will determine the entire outcome.
Moreover, and based on the very limited sample of my own
observations in person, those first two or three years of work typically do not constitute the best teaching that a person is likely to do, so the energy and enthusiasm don't necessarily mean spectacularly good or effective
classroom results.
In this section, we highlight
results from our
classroom observations as useful data in their own right, irrespective of school and independent of their relationship to student growth.
It can also be used for goal setting in the context of a coaching relationship or for shorter - term goal setting

results align to identify similar teachers as effective.
By shifting focus from influencing singular teacher actions through individual
classroom observations to increased involvement in and supervision of teacher teams, principals can have greater impact on the actions of teachers and as a
result, student learning.
Our
results thus provided suggestive evidence that the strength of the relationship between teachers»
classroom observation scores and their students» test performance may in part be attributable to the sensitivity of the skills assessed during
observation to those assessed on the test.
