In responses to the lack of scientific proof arguments,
climate change advocates usually stress the harsh environmental impacts to people and ecosystems that climate change will cause if action is not taken or argue that climate change science is settled.
Those who argue that Kyoto should be ditched to be replaced by some other scheme (
usually the pet scheme of the
advocate) implicitly dismiss the extraordinary complexity and difficulty of reaching an agreement among some 200 highly diverse countries, each with its own definition of fairness, on the
climate change issue.
