This is officially the post that marks Colossal
Closet's foray into 2017 with my very first
outfit post this year that's inspired of course
by the spirit of New Year and my individual...
Great
outfit and I totally relate to purchasing something and having it teasing you
by having it just hang there waiting in the
closet.
I'd love to be more creative with my
outfits and all... I have so many articles of clothing in my
closet that I don't know how to mix and match so I love that
by doing this challenge I might be able to find ways to experiment with what I have.
I wish I could take credit for the
outfit, but it was
by chance that they landed together in the
closet.
So today was an easy day for me and I didn't have to put much thought into what I was wearing this morning b / c I was paired up with Kendra from
Closet Confections to pick out of my
outfit for the day for the Paper Doll Project hosted
by Suze of Miss Vinyl Ahoy.
You all know
by now that I wear the items in my
closet repeatedly and love to create new
outfit combinations consisting of things I already own.
Always have a couple super comfy back - up
outfits in your
closet, so if you ever wake up in the morning and just feel blah about heading out to your day, you can
by - pass the scheduled
outfit and put on your favorite «feel good»
outfit instead.
When I am looking for a new item to allow into my walk - in
closet, I always like to envision at least two
outfits that I could create
by pairing the newcomer with what I already have.
By varying textures such as fur, leather, suede, or whatever black fabrics you have in your
closet, your
outfit will show a level of depth that every fashionista longs for.
You may have noticed, I am truly a fan of getting the most out of your wardrobe pieces
by matching up items in your
closet with other
outfit options.

I received lots of compliments and created a new
outfit by wearing something from the fall side of my
closet.
I don't like making
outfits inspired solely
by necessity but when you've got a «
closet orphan» on your hands, you often don't have a choice.
Typically
by this time of year my
closet is already filled with spring

I feel like I've been scraping
by so far with
outfits but that long term I'm really going to need to revamp the

Acid wash jeans go in and out of style season
by season but when I see them in my
closet I always get excited and
outfit ideas start rushing to my mind.

By pairing my gorgeous dress with, again, what I already had in my
closet — a denim jacket, fun necklace, my favorite cowboy boots, and, of course, my diaper bag — it made the
outfit PERFECT for everyday wear OR our casual, at - home Christmas party!
But
by far, my favorite piece in this
outfit, and truthfully in my
closet recently, is the statement bow - tie sleeved jacket.
I try to abide
by the rule that if you can't see multiple
outfits with one item it can't be in your

The general gist is that bloggers pull 30 items from their
closets and need to create 30 different
outfits from the pieces
by mixing and matching.
These looks might not seem groundbreaking, but they're not meant to be — they're just extremely thoughtful, cool, clever examples of how to put pieces together to create
outfits that are both impactful and stylish
by using things you might already have in the depths of your
closet.
Once I had committed to doing it, then I started enjoying the process of saving
outfit inspiration from my favorite stores, like Madewell, and sorting through my
closet by season just made so much sense to me.
To catch you up, I completed a capsule wardrobe challenge in which I wore 10 articles of clothing in 7 days and each

I'm constantly inspired
by the bloggers I follow, and every once in a while someone wears an
outfit that I never would have thought to put together myself and that I must replicate with things in my
closet.
The thing about this look is nothing I'm wearing was recently purchased and I've had for a while so I surprised myself
by shopping my
closet and re-visiting
outfits that I wore in the past that I may have forgot about and just wearing it differently.
For example, in the opening sequence, Roddy the rat, played

By reducing the number of items in the
closet and leaving only the practical, comfortable basics (a.k.a. the kind of
outfits that make you feel fabulous and indomitable all the time — and you know exactly what I'm talking about because we all have a few of those
outfits), you can save time and, according to John Haltiwanger, keep your mind clear for much more important decisions later in the day.
Once you have the right wardrobe in place, organize your
closet by type of garment and then
by color within each type, going from darkest to lightest, so that you can easily put together coordinated
outfits.
