In this scenario, the path of the sun in the
sky would appear to cross through what, from Earth, looks to be the midpoint of our galaxy, the Milky Way, which in good viewing
conditions appears as a
cloudy stripe across the night
sky.
Our results show that the
sky - polarimetric navigation is surprisingly successful on both days of the spring equinox and summer solstice even under
cloudy conditions if the navigator determined the north direction periodically at least once in every 3 h, independently of the type of sunstone used for the analysis of
sky polarization.
Under
cloudy conditions, the cloud cover radiates more heat back down toward the ocean surface than happens under clear
sky conditions.
Weather will depend of the stage your playing but some
conditions can be clear
skies, rain or
cloudy.
But Spencer et al 2007 take account of all
sky conditions (
cloudy and uncloudy — see fig 2 - D) when they estimate the SW+LW radiative budget.
The measurements are only for clear
sky conditions, to remove the complexity associated with the radiative effects of clouds (they did this by removing the measurements that appeared to be under
cloudy conditions).
Which is why we often see results broken into
cloudy and clear
sky conditions, so that the better understood process is seen.
Costa and Shine (2011) have recomputed the amount of radiation from the surface that actually reaches space under clear
sky and
cloudy conditions, which is a preferred method than simply assigning a value based on the so - called atmospheric window, as Kiehl and Trenberth (1997) did, and the value globally is 22 W m − 2.
Some luminance noise is visible in the
sky, particularly in
cloudy conditions, although in areas of uniform color (such as a clear blue
sky), the effect is better controlled.
