Many modern standard transmission cars in the US have
a clutch pedal sensor that will not allow you to start the vehicle if the pedal isn't fully depressed.

clutch pedal otherwise a
sensor will prevent the car from starting.
It completely removes the need to depress a
clutch pedal to facilitate gear changes and instead relies on
sensors, ECU and actuators.
As the
sensors detect
clutch pedal movement, the SRC system is primed, coming into operation when the gear lever is moved.
