Cabin noise is acceptably low for a light car, but
coarse surfaces do create some road roar.
The ride, as with most BMW models, is characterized by firm damping, but there is sufficient compliancy in comfort mode, even on optional 18 - inch run - flat tires, to ensure that coarse surfaces don't spoil the exceptional refinement.

Do know, however, that if you live in a region where the road
surface is
coarse, lots of road noise is transferred to the cabin, becoming a constant companion that almost requires the upgrade to the Harman - Kardon sound system.
It's firmer than some, but not uncomfortable, though we
did note a degree of tyre - noise intrusion, especially on
coarse chip
surfaces.
The tyres also ensure you know when the bitumen is
coarse or smooth as well, with the wrong
surface producing a roar in the cabin that reminds us that Mazda still has work to
do on sound isolation.
