Within the Marine Sciences Program at UCONN's Avery Point campus faculty, staff and students carry out cutting - edge research in
coastal oceanography using cross-disciplinary approaches.
Co-author Dr Ivan Haigh, lecturer in
coastal oceanography at the University of Southampton and also based at NOCS, adds: «Historical observations show a rising sea level from about 1800 as sea water warmed up and melt water from glaciers and ice fields flowed into the oceans.
«This region of the coast is understudied,» said Sutherland, who leads the UO's
coastal oceanography research group.
Najjar began this research in 2012 and has since partnered with 29 other scientists who specialize in various aspects of
coastal oceanography.
