The last step was to prime and then paint the entire piece with two
coats of chalk paint made with SW Dover White latex paint.
Also, keep in mind that if you pick up a piece you'd like to paint using this technique, and it's already stained or painted, you can skip this step entirely and simply apply a
top coat of chalk paint.
But since giving the jewelry chest a
new coat of chalk paint, I display it prominently in my home's upstairs hallway.
Once it's dry you'll need 2 - 3
coats of chalk paint.
