Here is a quick and easy way to make a dairy - free, healthier
coconut whipped cream at home.
To make your own vegan
coconut whipped cream at home, you're going to want to start with a can of full - fat coconut milk that you've let chill in the refrigerator over night.

You can also purchase pre-made
coconut whipped cream in the frozen section
at Whole Foods Market or your local natural food market.
Question — I've only worked with
coconut whipped cream once, and it liquefied when it sat
at room temp for more than 2 hours.
I made the
coconut whip for thanksgiving and it looked perfect and it seemed perfect —
whipped up just like
whipped cream — you couldn't tell by looking
at it that it wasn't dairy BUT, here's the ginormous BUT — it tasted horrible!

Coconut whipped cream needs to be stabilized in order to be kept out
at room temperature.
We had fun topping these with some shaved dark chocolate and vanilla
coconut whipped cream, and
at only 136 calories, there's no guilt to be had for this little indulgence!
THE TOPPING: Beat
whipping cream, powdered sugar, and
coconut extract
at medium speed with an electric mixer until soft peaks form; spread over top of pie.
Using chilled
coconut cream, it's easy
whip up a delicious dairy - free
whipped cream at home.
Serve
at room temperature, with a dollop of
coconut milk
whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon, if desired.
Also, the
coconut cream can be finicky to make yourself so if you find the So Delicious
coconut whip at the store, that would save a lot of time and effort.
This will be sprinkled on top of your
whipped coconut cream at the end.
Brown sugar and vanilla roasted strawberries are topped with a lightly sweetened
coconut whipped cream that might change your life — or
at least the way you make
whipped cream!

coconut milk for is to make
whipped coconut cream or
coconut custard.

I've also tried replacing the heavy
whipping cream in this recipe with
coconut cream, and the
cream cheese with dairy free
cream cheese and haven't liked the result
at all.
We top it with vegan meringues (which we happened to have
at home),
whipped coconut cream, melted dark vegan chocolate, chopped hazelnuts, raspberries and a dusting of cacao powder.
Serve warm or
at room temperature with
whipped cream, crème fraîche, or
coconut whipped cream.
If you're good
at planning ahead, make a batch of
coconut whipped cream, adding a tablespoon or two of whiskey, because yolo and such (I am on spring break after all..)
This is lovely topped with fresh
whipped cream or drizzled with
coconut butter when enjoying it for dessert or with a nice side of bacon or sausage
at breakfast!

At Julie's most recent cooking class, she made these AMAZING (raw, gluten and dairy free, suitable for vegetarian and paleo and primal) Pumpkin Parfaits, with a layer of cranberry sauce and a
coconut whipped cream topping.
If you are checking out this nondairy
whipped cream recipe in the cooler months and consistently keep your home
at less than 70 F / 21 C, then you can probably use the
coconut cream right out of the pantry as it will be solidified already.
They can be made up with anything
at all, but a beautiful combo is a layer of chia seeds blended with pureed berries, a layer of
whipped coconut cream (with a few drops of vanilla added) and topped with some homemade granola with
coconut, oats, seeds, dried berries, & apple puree.
For dessert, I've picked up a vegan pumpkin pie, which they are now selling
at Whole Foods, and I have topped it off with
coconut whipped cream.

coconut cream (same brand as recipe) but the past 3 boxes i bought have not made
whipped cream at all.
