But there is a problem:
The cold nitrogen gas thrusters that were supposed to press the lander against the surface appear not to be working.

Jupiter's Galilean moons and Earth's Moon are too warm to have retained any abundant
gases, but
cold Titan and warm but sufficiently massive Earth both have retained the
nitrogen molecule.
The revised version used in today's Glory launch used
cold, compressed
nitrogen gas to break those frangible joints.
With Earth without sunlight, parts of ocean would remain liquid due to interior heat and
nitrogen atmosphere would remain a
gas - a very
cold dense
gas.
With the addition of sunlight, the surface warms, the warmed surface heats the
nitrogen gas, and the
gases become less
cold and dense.
Water could be present in the
cold dense
nitrogen gas atmosphere, though CO2 probably would be mostly a solid at such
cold temperatures.
So, deal
gas with no actual volume has nothing to expand and condense which which is how we get convection as heated real
gases mainly
nitrogen and oxygen and water expand becoming lighter than air and so rise which spontaneously makes
colder heavier real
gases sink — in the fluid medium they comprise.
Created, for example, by taking out the whole of the Water Cycle and taking out rain from the Carbon Cycle and changing the real
gases oxygen and
nitrogen to ideal to take out heat transfer by convection which transfers heat away from the surface and sets up convection currents which bring
cold air back to the surface, winds.
