The four main goals are to: (1) develop a 13 - acre block in the center of the city as a «Green Arts District» beyond the LEED Platinum
level for neighborhood development and use that development to catalyze a prosperous city - wide economy; (2) develop a post-carbon energy system for both the city and the
College based on
efficiency and renewable energy; (3) develop a 20,000 acre greenbelt around the city to revive local agriculture and forestry; and (4) create the most exciting educational experiment in the U.S. by using the entire effort as an educational laboratory for all students in the Oberlin area.
