On the other hand, don't kid yourself into thinking
a color eInk device will replace a tablet.
But if the Ectaco device is any indication I don't think
a color eInk device from Amazon will be a game - changer.
But if they're planning to have
a color eInk device sit between the Touch and the Fire it seems like they're splitting hairs.
No one, at the time of the publication of your article, has shipped
a color EInk device.
By then, some believe that Kindle and PixelQi will have already released

The only reason I want
color eInk is because it will allow books with colorful graphics to be shown in all their glory on my favorite reading
device.
As with those trailblazing computers, the
eInk devices are still capable of displaying your picture beautifully — just not in
color.

eInk displays found on the Kindle and a few others and the
color LCD panels you'll see on devices like the Nook C

Color is a great
device that misses out on the two things that most make eReaders like books —
eInk and a lack of distractions.
Color eInk panels and labels built into
devices and bags and books — Set your name and address and then you never have to worry about tags and address labels.
IRex says it is on track to have a
color version of the
device by 2011, something that other vendors, which rely on technology from
eInk, a subsidiary of Prime View International of Taiwan, say is years away.
Some
devices have grayscale
eInk screens, so the
color will not show up on those
devices.
I prefer reading on an
eink device versus reading on an LCD screen and now that I have the Nook Touch, I can't imagine that the Nook
Color will get any more attention than it has in the past.
We do recommend you test
colored text on a
device with an
eInk screen and ensure that the text will not be too light to read.
It would be great if
eInk would offer full
color since that would allow me to go with one
device instead of two.
The software is free to download and offers all of the functionality of Amazon Kindle
device minus slow
eInk refresh rate and lack of
color, plus all of the multi-touch coolness of Windows 7 (Microsoft's latest operating system).
