It's not a great tablet
by any stretch but it's hard to argue with $ 99 for a
color ereader / tablet hybrid with a capacitive touchscreen and Android 2.2.
Designed and conceptualized in part
by futurist / engineer / inventor Ray Kurzweil, Blio diverges from traditional
ereaders in a couple of ways: first, it's software, intended to be loaded on a variety of devices, from tablets to iPhones to laptops; and second, it's full -
color, animated and interactive.
The problem has been that going this route removes your ability to run the Nook as it was originally intended
by good old Barnes and Noble; as a
color eReader running their customized OS.
At present, the
eReader market is dominated
by two screen technologies: the grayscale eInk displays found on the Kindle and a few others and the
color LCD panels you'll see on devices like the Nook C
color LCD panels you'll see on devices like the Nook
ColorColor.
While their tagline of «changing the face of tablets» may be stretching things a bit, this one looks to be a great new product in the multi-purpose
eReader category, and appears to have the market currently dominated
by the Nook
Color directly in its sights.
One reason that prices will be so low is that
by 2015, tablet PCs will compete more directly with high - end
eReaders — they'll have reflective displays capable of
color at very low power consumption rates.
When it first debuted, Barnes & Noble's Nook Tablet went head - to - head with Amazon's Kindle Fire with a great screen, microSD card slot and a stylish design, but the company may have done itself a disservice
by pricing its 7 - inch
color eReader $ 50 higher.
This week we'll dig up an item from last week — PocketBook claiming that at CES (Jan, 2011) it will unveil a Mirasol screen powered
color eReader and that
by Q3, 2011 it will have the
color eReader out in the US market.

color photos aren't supported
by all

While Nook
Color by itself is a really nice
eReader, it will really shine once you get CyanogenMod 7 to run on it and convert it into a full featured tablet.

Following a deal found
by my wife, I decided to buy the Pandigital Novel 7
color multimedia
ereader due mostly to its price ($ 127 after rebate).
Well, only hours after my speculation that Amazon might intend to make a huge impact
by being the first company to make the next obvious step in
eReader innovation
by jumping in with a
Color Kindle they have leaked some information to the contrary.
The Nook
Color has managed to carve out a space for itself
by being something of a budget iPad, for all its stated
eReading emphasis.
The Kyobo
eReader device has a
color display, but it uses mirasol display technology, which is different technology from a
color e-ink display, such as the one produced
by Triton.
Back then Kindle software 2.0.2 was just released, Amazon was being sued
by Discovery Communications and Amazon itself was sending DMCA takedown notes to MobileRead.com, Fujitsu FLEPia was expected to take

by storm with it's
color eInk and first rumors about what would become 9.7 ″ Kindle DX surfaced.
