I too am going to try these date bars to - day but the comments on highly
colored egg yolks took me back to the early days of my marriage.

yolks of
eggs in France are always a dark orange
color, even the industrial ones (although I try to get cage - free
eggs, it isn't always possible).
I bought good - quality
eggs from the Union Square Farmer's Market and the gold
yolks gave the ice cream a beautiful butter yellow
color.
That is the actual
color of the

Hello Kelly - Not sure why, but if it's orange
colored, it might be because your
egg yolks were very yellow or rich.
While half and half mixture is heating, whisk together
egg yolks, remaining 1/3 cup sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl until combined and a light yellow
color.
Our
eggs in France have extremely orange / deep - hued
yolks... which may play in the
color outcome.
Many
egg yolks vary in
color, so that's the only reason we could think of that would cause the curd to overtake the blood orange
color.
Put the
egg yolks and golden caster sugar into a bowl and beat with an electric hand mixer for around 2 minutes until the mixture has thickened, is paler in
color and falls in thick ribbons when you lift the beaters.
