colors were original in the newly created Mini
Schnauzer breed right from the beginning, and some breeders resistant to any change habitually culled (killed) these * other *
colors from their litters, pretending that such
colors did not exist in THEIR pedigrees.
The Countess produced parti
color pups born from two solid black parents, (both of whom had solid black coloration for 6 generations), and these parti
color pups and their progeny were selectively
bred and have carried forth the parti
color gene to the present day purebred parti
colored Miniature
Schnauzers, despite the
color prejudice encountered all along the way.
Even deliberately
bred mixes like Schnoodles (
Schnauzer x Poodle) or Cockapoos (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle) are not uniform in
color, shape and size.
We do not participate in perimeter
breeding, such as toys or parti
colors, due to the medical issues this type of
breeding produces; we only
breed the Miniature
Schnauzer.
Standard
Schnauzers are either salt - and - pepper or black in
color, and are known for exhibiting many of the «ideal» traits of any
breed.
In other
breeds such as the Miniature
Schnauzer, both hair coat texture and hair
color are defining characteristics of our
breed.
I simply do not believe that any white puppy or any other «rare» or «unusual»
color puppy comes from anything other than Miniature
Schnauzers who have been crossed with some other
breed during the last ten or thirty or fifty years.
History describes early litters that were sorted and classified by appearance including
color and coat into «
Schnauzer» or «other», and this selection process was then codified into a
Schnauzer Breed Standard.
