The chemical brilliance of Rothko's palette continued into 1949 and 1950, when he began to
work in broad, parallel bars of
colour of varied widths, extending them from the edges of his canvas, or
setting solid blocks of tone against a continuous ground of contrasting hue.
On a more extreme level,
in terms of
colour, parallels can be drawn between its use
in their product and the way that Donald Judd's brightly
coloured box sculptures
set against his own bare sheet metal
works and the severity of Carl Andre's «no compromise» minimalism made the genre approachable, opening the door for Jonathan Ive's groundbreaking, minimalism minus the chill factor, approach at Apple.
You have to mention
in it your knowledge about paints (
colour mixing and combinations), skill
set you possess,
work you have done
in the past and your education history.
Lastly, find the right accessories to really
set the spring tone — go for objects that share an accent
colour to keep the look effortlessly chic and
work in specific spring themes like birds and new buds, and display plenty of happy flowers to finish off the refreshing look.

in colour choice, too, and we are seeing more green tones, reminiscent of summer grasses, which
work perfectly
in relaxed country
settings.
Right now, the freshest
colours are inspired by nature and the ever - changing landscape, and sit very well
in rural
settings (although they
work just as well
in urban homes).
But with the right
colour combinations, it can
work in a more modern
setting too.
A Tyson console table, made from beautifully patterned
wrought - iron, makes an unusual statement piece, particularly when
set against a wall painted
in a bright
colour from the Farrow & Ball range.
«Subtle shades of green
work well
in traditional
settings, or try pale lilac or terracotta,» says Kathryn Hibberd, designer and member of Crown Paints
Colour Influences Panel.
Use cushions and throws
in textures and
colours that blend with the natural beauty outside - deep greens with bright accents
work well
in this
setting.
A statement chair (designer of course)
in a poppy
colour works like a picture frame,
setting off a pale fur beautifully.
